'Time to get online' is a partnership project between County Durham Housing Group, Dale and Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association.

Our aim is to raise awareness of the benefits of getting online and to help people increase their online skills.

At 'Time to get online' we run informal and friendly interactive sessions where we will help you to get confident and explore more online.

Use one of our devices or bring your own (laptop, tablet or smartphone) and we will match you with a friendly volunteer ‘digital champion’ who will answer your questions and show you what you can do online. If you need transport to the event, we can provide this for you too. ‘Time to get online’ sessions run across County Durham in various venues.

We also want to provide you with useful information about all things to do with getting online. There’s some great websites out there and we have also developed some of our own help guides. These can be found on our useful resources page.

Did you know?

“All elements of the event were outstanding, but I’d also be interested in learning how to use an ipad.”

Beatrice Clyde, East Durham Homes tenant

We now have tablet devices for tenants to use at events.

“Peter the tutor showed me ways to do a lot of things quicker and with less effort. It was lovely to talk to an expert instead of being alone.”

Graham Armstrong, Teesdale Housing Association tenant

“I decided to attend this event to help me with applying for jobs. There was a really friendly atmosphere and the tutor had a great sense of humour.”

Wendy Trotter, Durham City Homes tenant

“Today I learnt how to swap my energy tariff so I get the best deal.”

Iris Simpson, East Durham Homes’ tenant

“I’ve been given a computer to help me with the work I do on the scrutiny panel so thought I’d come along to this course to learn more about using it. The trainer was really patient as I can't always take things in first time.”

Linda Bailey, Teesdale Housing Association tenant

“The support I received today was good. It would be great if there was more of these events!”

Raymond Williams, Dale and Valley Homes’ tenant
